Latest updates on Tokyo Olympics 2020

The wait for the famous international event: Tokyo Olympics 2020 is finally over. It began on 23rd July 2021 and will conclude on 8th August 2021. The opening of this grand event of sports was on 21st July 2021 in Tokyo, Japan.

The motto of this sports event is ‘United by Emotion’. Around 11,326 athletes from 205+ nations have participated in this event. There are a total of 339 events in 33 sports of 50 disciplines. At the time of the 125th IOC session that was held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Tokyo was chosen to become the host city for the upcoming Olympics. Tokyo Olympics 2020 was earlier named as Tokyo Olympics 2020 as it was decided to be scheduled on 24 July 2020 till 9 August 2020. 

In the past, the Olympic Games have been delayed because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Introduction of new games

This time, the audience will see some new competitions along with those games that were once removed. Newer games comprise freestyle BMX, 3 X 3basketball, and older sports events for the mixed-gender, Madison cycling for men, and the same events for the women too. The host can add some different and new sports to this event according to the developed policies of IOC. The Japanese Olympic Committee added karate, surfing, sport climbing, skateboarding, softball, and baseball.

Indians participation in Tokyo Olympics 2020

To represent India in the Tokyo Olympics 2020, a total of 127 men and women have enthusiastically participated in many sports. The proportions of male candidates are more than female candidates. Around 67 men and 52 women are representing our nation. The participants have started playing and made us feel proud. The players are playing at their best after considering all the protocols of the Covid-19 safety.
